Automatician

Automation engineers have a varied job. They plan, program and build electrical controls, electrical machines and automated systems. They assemble and wire switch cabinets, commission the automated systems, carry out maintenance work and create technical documents. Nothing works in everyday life without automation engineers, since controls, drives and power distribution systems are installed almost everywhere: These can be found, for example, in light signal systems, in transport systems, in buildings and much more.

Duration of the Apprenticeship

4 years

Teaching Process

In the first part of the training, the focus is on the production of individual parts and small series using conventional production equipment as well as the mechanical assembly of components and machines.

The second part of the training includes

  • Electrical production engineering, such as construction and wiring of control cabinets
  • Wiring of machines and plants
  • Control of schemes and final inspection according to EN 60204 on the final product
  • Independent project processing on the basis of production orders up to customer handover

In-service, inter-company courses (basic and supplementary courses) form a second cornerstone of practical training.

Requirements

  • A completed education in a secondary school (intermediate or advanced level I)
  • In addition, your academic strengths lie in mathematics, geometry and physics
  • You have great manual skills and are interested in technical connections and electrical engineering
  • Spatial imagination, the ability to concentrate and perseverance as well as an exact and thorough way of working also suit you

Application

Complete application documents consisting of:

  • Letter of application (letter of motivation)

Design Engineer (Construction)

Design engineers develop and design individual parts and assemblies for devices, machines or plants as well as tools and devices for production in cooperation with other specialists. They process orders, specifications or parts of projects. They prepare manufacturing, assembly and testing documents and compile the necessary production data. For the operation and maintenance of the products, they prepare corresponding instructions and documentation.

Duration of the Apprenticeship

4 years

Teaching Process
Within the scope of a production internship, workpieces are manufactured independently. In this way, designers learn about the material behavior and the characteristics of different manufacturing processes. Furthermore, they create documents that completely describe a technical product and thus enable its manufacture. After the internship, they are introduced to the design of individual parts and assemblies. Basic knowledge on a common 3-D computer program is acquired step by step. In the special training, previously acquired skills and knowledge are deepened and consolidated by means of productive work. For example, individual parts are designed, sub-projects are planned and monitored or layouts and production documents are created.

Requirements

  • A completed intermediate or advanced level of secondary education
  • In addition, the school's strengths lie in mathematics, geometry and physics
  • Interest in technical connections and mechanics
  • Abstract, logical thinking
  • Craftsmanship
  • Spatial imagination
  • Precise and thorough working method
  • Concentration ability and endurance
